Participation in AOGS 2026 in Fukuoka, Japan
The AOGS (Asia Oceania Geosciences Society) 2026 was held at the Fukuoka International Congress Center from August 3 to 7. Seven members from our laboratory participated: Kido (D3), Chonlada (D3), Asghar (D2), Sheraz (D2), Kasagi (D1), Song (M2), and Eguchi (M2).
As the conference was held in Japan, there were many Japanese participants.
On the first day, Kido, Chonlada, Asghar, Sheraz, and Kasagi gave poster presentations. Many people visited each of their posters, and we had opportunities to discuss our research with many researchers. Although the poster presentations started soon after we arrived in Fukuoka, everyone successfully completed their presentations. The first day of the conference passed very quickly.
On the second day, Song and Eguchi gave oral presentations. Since it was their first oral presentation at an international conference, they were both very nervous. However, they successfully completed their presentations. They were also worried about questions from the audience, but they were able to answer them smoothly. Although there were some things to improve, giving an oral presentation at an international conference was a valuable experience and gave them confidence for the future.
During the conference, we learned new things by listening to presentations by researchers from various fields. We also had many opportunities to discuss our research with other researchers. We would like to use this experience in our future research and actively participate in more conferences.
Fukuoka also has many delicious foods, such as motsunabe, mentaiko, ramen, and seafood bowls. We enjoyed great food every day. In particular, the salt motsunabe was excellent. It was a hot pot with a garlic and salt-based soup and plenty of grilled motsu (beef or pork offal).
